We are now accepting DVDs of rough-cut or close-to-finished films for Show and Grow.

[If your film is finished, please submit it to CineWomen NY Screens, our monthly screening series.]

To submit a film, send an email to showandgrow@nywift.org. Tell us your name, filmmaking background, and describe the film you want to submit (title, length, state of completion).You will then be given instructions on where to send your film.

Screen your unfinished or 'needs-work' film to an appreciative, supportive, educated audience of fellow CineWomen NY members. The audience will complete your written survey as well as give you verbal feedback on your work.

This is a great opportunity for a work-in-progress.

CineWomen NY organizes Show and Grow sessions once a month, on the first Monday of the month based on demand. At least one key position on the film must be filled by a CineWomen NY member. CineWomen NY asks that anyone who participates in a Show and Grow lists CineWomen NY in the film credits.

Graveyard Shift

Wendy Misa, Director 

On Friday, October 3, 2008, we will see a film by CWNY member Wendy Misa. The program will begin at 6:30 with refreshments and socializing.

About the film:

Graveyard Shift is the story of a Filippino girl who returns from the US for a visit only to find that her ex-boyfriend died mysteriously. She sets about to find his grave.

As a young girl, Wendy Misa was exposed to the art world, keeping herself busy on Saturday afternoons, attending music, art, and dance workshops. She was enrolled at the Cultural Center of the Philippines, learning from mentors and appreciating aesthetics. Wendy shifted from one art form to the other until at age 21 she finally found her possible future in the world of Independent Cinema, at that time, she was already an aspiring actress for theater and t.v. doing commercial modeling and also a popular singer/songwriter of an all female rock band. A few months after she graduated at De La Salle University- College of St. Benilde (BA Production Design), she moved to New York City, to study at the New York Film Academy for a year.

Graveyard Shift is her first non-student film, which she wrote, produced, and directed in Manila while home for a short visit.
