(New York) – On Wednesday, August 27th at 8:00 P.M., New York City's historic Cherry Lane Theater (38 Commerce St.) will host a one night only screenplay reading of Sundance Film Festival, award-winning, writer/director Rene Alberta's politically charged thriller, This Land.

A 7:30pm reception will be sponsored by RAYMOND HILL VINEYARDS and ILE de BASQUE Specialty Cheese purveyors.

Andre Royo of HBO's seminal drama The Wire, produces in association with American Film Institute and American Motion Picture Society award-winning producer Daniel Sollinger (The Alphabet Killer, Day Zero, Rhyme & Reason).

Casting services provided by Sig De Miguel (The Good Shepherd, United 93, The Cooler) and Stephen Vincent (The Insider, Black Hawk Down, Pearl Harbor) of Palm Star Entertainment.

Cast Includes: Michael Stahl-David (Cloverfield).

This Land examines the personal and political ramifications of American idealism when a young humanitarian is kidnapped by a guerilla rebel only to discover that the aid organization he works for is a front for a Latin American drug cartel.

The contemporary relevance of This Land has reached new heights with the assassination of a commander of the Columbian rebel organization FARC, and the subsequent rescue of their 15 hostages, which included former Columbian presidential candidate Ingrid Betancourt who had spent six years in captivity.

Michael Stahl-David recently starred in J.J. Abrams' blockbuster, Cloverfield, Paul Haggis' NBC drama The Black Donnellys and made his Off-Broadway debut in The Roundabout Theater Company's production of The Overwhelming.

Reservations can be made via phone at (212) 340-1325 or by emailing kmfellows@socal.rr.com.
