The Sixth Annual CWNY
Benefit was on Wednesday, November 15th at
Phebe's. Laura Paglin was honored with the 2006
Someone to Watch Award for her film No
Umbrella: Election Day in the City. And we
still can't figure out how the table Christina
Kotlar was sitting at didn't win any raffle
prizes -- because there were a lot of
'em...hmmm...do we smell a scandal? Thank you so
much to Film
Emporium for sponsoring the
evening.

NYtes
Amazing
things happen at CineWomen NY NYtes.
This
is an opportunity for you to talk about your
project, ask for advice, help or resources and
also the opposite - maybe you have a skill or
experience you can offer. From needing a location,
having a script translated from French, to where
to find a good costume designer - this is the
place to be.
Network, crew up, share
works-in-progress and bask in the ambience of
like-minded individuals. The evening starts out
with announcements about what's happening with the
organization, then members talk on a first come,
first speak basis. Guests and visitors are
welcome
CineWomen
NY Soiree
The
definition of a soiree is, "...an evening party or
social gathering, especially one held for a
particular purpose." Our only purpose here is to
offer film folk a nice relaxing atmosphere to
come out, meet each other, and have some
fun.
Currently
the Soiree is held monthly at Phebe's in
the East Village at 359 Bowery, there is free
food courtesy of Film Emporium and reduced priced
drinks.
You don't have to be a CineWomen NY
member to go. You don't even have to be a woman.
All are welcome. Bring your friends. Bring your
relatives. Bring your friend's relatives -- as
long as they are filmmakers, crew, cast or film
lovers.
Just show up, mix, mingle and
enjoy... no hassle and nice
people...
Groups
The
Groups are designed to provide you with a regular,
ongoing, "safe" environment to get feedback on a
current project or to learn about some aspect of
filmmaking that is important to you. Going to
Groups is also a good tool to keep your project(s)
on track.
Currently there are three
Groups: Screenwriters,
Producers and Filmmakers.
Screenings
CineWomen
NY is dedicated to bringing women's cinema
projects to a larger audience. To that end, we've
partnered with the Pioneer Theater/Two Boots to
create a monthly evening of shorts and features
from the female point-of-view. The series runs on
the 4th Tuesday (7-9 pm) of every month except
December and August. Our screenings include a
Q&A with the filmmakers, followed by a beer
and pizza gathering (9-10 pm) in the Den Of Cin
afterwards. Pioneer
Theater is located at 155 East 3rd Street, off
Avenue A in New York City.
Sho
N Gro
Sho
N Gro is designed to give you and your
project a boost. It's your opportunity to show
your work at any phase and get feedback from a
group of experts. Sho N Gro is held on a
request-only basis - you request, we put one
together for you so it can be customized to fit
your focus, need or help you solve a particular
problem.
Internship
Program
We
have an Intern Program that enables you to find
interns from Tisch School of the Arts or Brooklyn
College.
